WHAT’S NEW?STOP PRESS! Due to public demand, an extra date has been added to our run of Les Miserables. Tickets are now available for Monday 7 July at 7.00pm. If you've already been disappointed, you'd better book quickly..... Starset Theatre After 8 years of training young people in performing arts, the stage schools are preparing to take on a new name as Starset Theatre. School Director John Hudson explains, “as our classes across the north-east grow in number and size, with more and more students wishing to join and be involved in several of our productions at once, we decided that a universal name across all our classes would help the students to feel part of the same organisation. This will also allow us to perform successful shows in other theatres, giving the students more opportunities, as well as increased scope for professional productions, all under the Starset Theatre banner.” The new logo and uniforms are already proving a hit with the students, and we hope that our audiences and supporters will also approve... SUMMER SCHOOLS This year's summer schools will take place week beginning Monday 28 July and the following week (beginning Monday 4 August) at All Saints Church Hall, Cleadon Village. Based on the theme of "A Summer of Musicals", each week has its own programme to be rehearsed for a full show each Friday afternoon, where families and friends can come and watch their own budding star! Places are already starting to fill up, so contact John or Elissa on 0191 537 2636 for more information or to book a place. 2008 Productions This year is a busy year, show-wise. Starting with Disco Inferno, being performed at the Gala Theatre, Durham by Durham Stage School in May, we then move on the Decades Concert, which will be the first show staged by the Washington class. July will be a busy month, with Les Miserables at the Customs House, and Ali Baba at the Boldon Theatre. We'll then be back to Durham in October for the first show under the new Starset Theatre name, when the students at Durham will perform their version of the Decades Concert, to celebrate over 5 years of classes in the city. The year will finish with the South Shields students performing their Christmas Concert, this year on a theme of "A Trip to the Movies". Keep an eye on the Current Productions and Tickets page for information on how and where to book! |
